The theory behind the scraper system is critical for effective cleaning, but the underlying technical conditions in the facility as a whole, as well as the qualities of the delivered material, are equally significant. Because a scraper is constantly in contact with the other components of a belt conveyor, it can only be as excellent as the conveyor allows.

l Where transported material sticks to the belt in thick layers, enough space should be allowed for the scrapers to be installed and operated according to the installation and operating instructions. A pre-and primary scraper should be able to fit in the available space.

l After the scraper, there should be enough room up to the chute's back wall to avoid transported material from caking on the chute.

l The angle of the chute's back wall should be appropriate for the material's discharge behaviour.

l To prevent scrapings from being flung behind the chute, the back wall of the chute should be closed as high as feasible.

l For mounting, maintenance, and cleaning purposes, the scraper should be freely accessible.


2. The surface quality of the conveyor belt also has a considerable influence on the cleaning effect.


l The scraper cannot fully contact the conveyed material if the belt is furrowed or worn. A cover-plate hardness of 60° to 75° Shore-A is recommended. Joins and patched areas in the belt must be level and unbroken to allow appropriate scraper operation.

l The belt surface qualities should be tailored to the operating conditions, for example, the belt should be heat and oil-resistant. If these parameters are not followed, the belt cover may experience changes that make cleaning difficult or impossible. Existing standards and instructions should be followed while creating belt joints.

l The edge of a textile belt junction should be gradual and terrace-like, so that the scraper contacts the undisturbed section of the belt after passing the junction and does not run against the overlap where the cover hardness deviates from the undisturbed section.


3. The head pulley is also very important.


l When installing a scraper on the head pulley, it's critical to make sure the scraper is compatible with the drum lagging and design.

l There should be no material stuck between the belt and the drum in the conveyor design, as this could harm the belt.

l During the winter, ice on the drum scrapers should be avoided since it increases the energy demand of a conveyor belt. It may be required to assess the power demand for short belt conveyors.
